My new host Stephan in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern welcomed me with a celestial event. It is the night of shooting stars. The Earth is moving through the Perseids meteor belt, bringing people this cosmic event. But the night was to hold something even more powerful in store.
Why I came back from Mallorca
After I changed course and realized that my big goal, my North Star in life, has been to travel to North America to visit the Native Americans since my early childhood. But this change of course came with certain doubts as to whether I was on the right track and whether I was on the right path. In the end, I took a step back from art painting and set sail for America. In Germany, I see the best opportunity to get the necessary change to realize the trip.
The journey was long, but not arduous. But I was nervous and my self-confidence was a little low, because I didn't know what to expect. If something unexpected didn't work out, I'd be standing there in the cold German weather without a roof over my head.
My new host Stephan
As arranged, Stephan was at the train station and picked me up in his car. When I arrived at his home, I was greeted by an apartment with no electricity apart from a cable drum and poor sanitary facilities. Partly still a building site. Was it the right decision? I find it hard to believe. Self-doubt blocks my thinking when I get a reminder on my cell phone: It's the night of the Perseid shooting star show. When I go outside into the dark night, a natural spectacle awaits me that gives me hope. A sky so clear and beautiful that you can see the Milky Way. Even if it's not perfect yet, I've never seen it so clearly. And, like a divine sign, it's also a night full of auroras in the sky. I had slept through the last event and was sad that, as a passionate stargazer, I had missed out on something like this. But today I was made up for it. This cosmic spectacle, accompanied by dozens of shooting stars, reignited the spark in me.
